My name is Prince, and Newpath is a not-for-profit organisation established from personal loss and a deep belief that the mental health system must do better.
Newpath exists to bridge the gap between the medical and social models of mental health care—the space where too many people are lost during transitions, particularly at discharge. While many organisations do important work, our focus is on integration, continuity, and dignity in recovery.
I lost both of my parents to mental illness. I was nine when my father passed away, long before I understood mental health. After migrating to Australia at 18, I began to understand its complexity. Despite later becoming a registered nurse in mental health, I lost my mother as well an experience that profoundly shaped my purpose.
Through both lived and professional experience, I have seen how fragmented mental health systems can be. Clinicians want to help, but are often constrained by time, structures, and red tape. Newpath was created to address these gaps, supporting people across life stages from young people in recovery to older adults with complex mental health needs so no one is left unsupported.
